Ice Dam Removal
- A technician will hook up to your power and water sources while another person begins shoveling the roof so that they can reach the ice and cut trenches into it.
- We start at the bottom of the roof and steam uphill to keep all moisture away from the house.
- Once we cut the trenches into the ice we spray steam under the ice from the backside. There may be large ice chunks that will come off the roof. As part of the job we do make sure that any walkways, decks, and driveways are free of any ice that has fallen. If you do want us to remove any of the large chunks of ice that may fall in your yard, that will be part of that hourly charge for the job.
Our technician’s time starts from the time they arrive in your driveway to the time they put the last hose in the truck. They are billed at a rate of $300 an hour at a minimum of one hour. Any time after the first hour is prorated in half-hour increments of $150 to the closest half-hour.
If you shovel the snow before our technicians arrive, that does save some time in the hourly billing. We like to recommend ways that may save some money with this process!
**One other important point is that the technicians will need running water and power at the house.
As a summary: we do start the billing clock from the time that the technicians arrive at the house, to the time they put the last hose in the truck; whatever ice falls off the roof will be left where it falls unless it is in a walkway or driveway; if you want us to move the ice that falls in the yard, please ask and we will add it to our hourly billing for the job;, and then time is billed at $300 per hour, and pro-rated in half-hour increments after the first full hour.
We do require a credit card on file for emergency services like this. however you can choose to pay however you would like when the technicians are done with everything. We can just run the card when the job is done and we have let you know the total cost.”
*Arrange a time and date for the service, or let them know that a scheduler will be calling to set up the appointment.
